D Brooks Orpik

This past off-season, Ray Shero was struggling to retain anyone on the Penguins roster that’s contract was ending up. Finally, on July 2nd, the Penguins singed defenseman Brooks Orpik to a 6 year deal, $22.5 million contract. However, Orpik could’ve went to another team for more money, but decided to take the home-town discount stay in Pittsburgh. This was a huge signing as Orpik really developed his defensive game this past year. For a defensemen, he hits like one of the best in the league and usually leads the Penguins roster in hits. Though he does need to improve his offensive skills and needs to be more quick to become the total package. Orpik is hitting his prime now and should be very good for seasons to come.
