LW Janne Pesonen

New comer Janne Pesonen could be a huge hit or could be a miss, it’s as as simple as that. Pesonen absolutely dominated the Finnish Elite League with 78 points (34 goals, 34 assists) in only 56 games with the Oulu Karpat. His numbers and performance convinced Penguins GM Ray Shero enough to sign him. However, even though the Youtube videos of him are very impressive, it’s not a guaranteement that Pesonen can make the automatic smooth transition into the NHL as the NHL is tougher than the Finnish Elite League. But what helps him out is he’s very fast and has a knack of scoring that should help him once he gets into the league. Most are expecting Pesonen to either start out with the Penguins minor league team Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, or play on the third line in Pittsburgh. If he can play up to his potential, don’t be surprised to see him playing on the first line with Sidney Crosby some day.
