D Sergei Gonchar
Sergei Gonchar, in my opinion, without a doubt, is one of the most underrated players in the game today. When hockey fans discuss the top defenseman in the league, they talk about Dion Phaneuf, Nicklas Lidstrom, Chris Pronger, etc. But not as much as Sergei Gonchar which is wrong. Right now at Gonchar’s point of his career, he’s a hall-of-famer and should be on the decline of his career, but he’s still playing like he’s in his prime. He’s been the #1 or #2 defenseman with every team he’s played with and has been a huge asset on the powerplay during his whole career. Gonchar has never been the one for fans to complain about on and off the ice. I’ll be enjoying Gonchar’s last couple years as either a Penguin or as an NHL player to the fullest.
