D Ryan Whitney

Ryan Whitney, like Kris Letang, is another young star on the Pittsburgh Penguins that fails to get mentioned from time to time. Whitney’s play last season took a bit of a hit though as he wasn’t exactly generating a lot of “hits”. Penguins fans claimed him to be soft (or “soff” in their words). Even though he was at times, soft, he still was effective as an offensive defensemen. Plus, his toughness improved in the playoffs as he hit and even fought in the opening round against the Ottawa Senators (what a shocker!). In time, I believe Ryan Whitney will prove to the Penguins organization on why they selected him in the first round. Remember, he’s only 25 years old and has plenty of time to improve.
